I know this thread is kinda old, but thought I would put my two cents in. I gew up in the area near Lucas Rd...off Hwy 61. There has always seemed to be a lot of weird activity there. I do know that a civil war battle went through there. There used to be a pottry mill there (Sligh's Mill, Pottery & Tanyard) and it was burned. It is hard to find too much about the topic online and the historic marker that was on Hwy 61 was destroyed in a car accident in 2003. Anyway, thought that might help answer some questions as to why strange things go on around there. I have stories that I may share...i'm new here though so just trying to settle in :)

wow, thanks for that info!
I was wondering about the battle

No problem! :) I wish I could find more information on the topic. I grew up on Cochran Rd, which Lucas Road dead ends into on the 61 side. Cochran road at one time was named Burnt Mill rd. after the pottery mill fire. If anybody finds out any deeper info, I would sure be interested in it! :D

For parts, a 4-wheel drive is a must. Also, there are some sections off to the side that have sudden drops of 5+ feet if you pull off too far.

It's a long road with nothing but mostly woods around it. If something were to happen you would essentially be stuck. If memory serves me correctly I couldn't even get a cell phone signal in some parts of the road.
