Archaeological Laboratory Haunting
« on: September 14, 2009, 12:49:31 PM »
Hello, I am new to this board and have lived in Douglasville for nearly 15 years. I used to go to the University of West Georgia. While there, I began to volunteer and later, became a paid employee of the Antonio J. Waring, Jr. Archaeological Laboratory. Within the laboratory reside the remains of hundreds of Native Americans (mainly from the Etowah site) and the occasional human bone from Civil War sites.

During my time there (slightly over 2 years), we have had many volunteers and employees come and go. The lab has the appearance of a warehouse, with a small upper story and two levels of metal racks to hold the collections. The doors to the laboratory all have alarms that would be set off if they were opened and the appropriate numbers were not punched in. The average amount of people who would be working at the same time tended to be between 1 and 3. The occurrences mentioned to me by fellow employees are:

- Whispered conversations while alone in the collections area.
- Shadow People darting amongst the rows of shelves.
- A little, Native American girl looking at the workers from the second collection level.
- (oddly enough) A horse walking across the floor in the collections area.

The two instances that occurred while I was working and witnessed by a co-worker are:

- A co-worker and I were the only ones working. It was close to closing time and we were just finishing up. The heavy door that led to the second floor area was closed at this time. As we were working, we suddenly heard the door slam shut. We looked up and saw nothing and we checked the second floor to find no one there.

- The Laboratory Coordinator and I were talking in her office. We were there alone and had closed the rest of the lab. From the closed off collection area (a few rooms away and all doors were closed) we heard the sound of something large slamming into the metal racks. When searched, we found no one there and nothing disturbed.

Wow sounds like this would be a great place to investigate.  So much death in one room.  Something may be attached to all those remains.  Sounds creepy but it does sound like it is nothing harmful since no one has reporting getting hurt.
